Wirral Islamic Cultural Centre and Shahjalal Mosque LTD (Birkenhead, Charity Reg. 1108861) is located in the historic and significant town of Birkenhead, Merseyside.
The largest and central mosque of Wirral district (Cheshire) is mandated to meet the Muslim community’s needs by facilitating education, good practice in faith, community development, social cohesion, and interfaith dialogue.
This mosque was established first in 1991, where its temporary location was 75 Grange Road East (top floor the Manzil Indian Restaurant (CH41
5FD). Then with the help of the local Wirral Muslim community, the mosque was located in its purchased building at 309 Borough Road, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH41 4DF in 1994.
The local council then provided a prominent historical building (Beech Croft, 67 Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH41 2SA (where the current mosque is located) with the exchange of the borough road building. Wirral Islamic Cultural Centre & Shahjalal Mosque’s official address has been changed from 309 Borough Road to 67 Whetstone lane (the current location) on 17 January 2010.
